About Amzeeq

The touch of minocycline

Why minocycline?
Oral minocycline has been trusted for nearly 50 years in the treatment of acne vulgaris.3

Advantages
  • Potent antibacterial properties against C. acnes2
  • Low resistance profile2
  • Anti-inflammatory properties4*
  • Mechanism of action for the treatment of acne is unknown.
challenges of minocycline image
The Challenge
  • Oral minocycline is associated with high systemic exposure5
For topical formulations:
  • Sensitive to light and oxidation6
  • Degrades upon contact with water and other protic solvents6
Amzeeq is the only topical antibiotic for acne with a label including a low propensity for antibiotic resistance1,2
C. acnes has a
low propensity for resistance to minocycline1
Minocycline is the active ingredient in Amzeeq.
Spontaneous mutation frequencies were
<1 in 100 million1†
At 2 to 16 times the minimal inhibitory concentration (MIC).
The MIC for minocycline is 0.25 μg/mL.1,2

Antimicrobial activity: Amzeeq is active in vitro against most isolates of C. acnes (formerly P. acnes).
The clinical significance of this is unknown.1

Amzeeq is enabled by a proprietary foam vehicle that leverages our proprietary Molecule Stabilizing Technology (MST)™ platform

The MST™ platform allows for micronized molecules to be stabilized in Amzeeq's foam delivery vehicle.
MST™ Platform
  • Enables unstable molecules to be placed into a lipophilic vehicle purposely designed for stable topical delivery6
  • Leverages micronized particles to increase coverage and penetration6
Foam Vehicle
  • Contains naturally moisturizing ingredients1,7‡:
    • Coconut oil
    • Soybean oil
  • Surfactant-free1
  • Does NOT contain drying agents, such as ethyl alcohol1
  • Amzeeq contains the following inactive ingredients: soybean oil, coconut oil, light mineral oil, cyclomethicone, cetostearyl alcohol, stearic acid, myristyl alcohol, hydrogenated castor oil, white wax (beeswax), stearyl alcohol, docosanol. Amzeeq topical foam is dispensed from an aluminum container (can) pressurized with propellant (butane + isobutane + propane).
These innovative technologies combine to allow Amzeeq to be the first and only topical minocycline for the treatment of inflammatory lesions of non-nodular moderate to severe acne vulgaris in adults and pediatric patients 9 years of age and older.
